The amaryllis: a popular flower in December

The bulbous flower originally comes from South Africa and is known as a seasonal flower in winter. The amaryllis is also known as the knight's star, which is a fitting name for the flower. It flowers in a star shape, in the colours red, white or bicoloured. Here are a few facts:

  • Origin: South Africa
  • Colours: White, red, pink, yellow
  • Symbolism: Pride and grace

So if you want to send birthday bouquets in December, the amaryllis is just as important as in a Christmas bouquet. With its large flowers, it shines proudly in a star shape in every bouquet.

It is not for nothing that theamaryllis is known for its December bloom. This is because the amaryllis starts to bloom again in December. So it's high time to bring them out again and put them centre stage on the living room table or elsewhere.

Care tips: Amaryllis as a cut flower

To ensure that the pretty Christmas flower lasts a particularly long time in the vase, here are a fewtips on flower care. They should last in the vase for up to 14 days! It helps if you change the water regularly. Please do not put too much water in the vase, otherwise the stem may soften.

The amaryllis can tolerate a cool room temperature of approx. 20 degrees. Help the flower by not placing it too close to a radiator. This will prevent the freshly cut stem ends from curling up from below.
